Team Aon Edges Argosy in Tight A League Clash
This week’s Isle of Man Squash A League fixtures served up a mixture of drama, close contests, and commanding displays, keeping the competition finely balanced.
Argosy vs. Team Aon
Team Aon emerged narrow winners in a tightly contested tie. Argosy started brightly as Malcolm Levy produced a clinical 3–0 victory over Robin Crease, showing his trademark control and precision. But Team Aon struck back through Phil Butler, who battled hard to overturn an early deficit and defeat David O’Neill 3–1. Momentum stayed with Team Aon as Nathan Quilliam wrapped up the tie, outpacing Dave Hedley 3–0 with a dominant all-round performance.
Crazy Billions vs. Cannell Print
This match proved a true see-saw contest before ending level. Cannell Print’s Thomas Whiteway opened with a confident 3–1 victory over Hamish Thornton, but Crazy Billions hit back strongly. Mark Webster-Smith looked unstoppable as he swept aside Ben Peach 3–0, before James Ramsey clinched three nail-biting games against Damien Loughrey, each decided by the narrowest of margins. Cannell Print had the final say, though, as Robert Colquitt held firm to beat Mike Hayler 3–1 and share the points.
Moore Dixon Jaguars vs. Pat’s Pals
The Jaguars stamped their authority on the evening with a commanding display. Shaun Wyllie edged a thrilling five-set battle against Ben Leith, finally sealing victory 11–8 in the decider. That hard-fought win was the springboard for a dominant finish, as Toby Woolard cruised past Oliver Wait 3–0, before Lance Wyllie wrapped things up with another emphatic straight-games win over Isaac Quayle.
