A League Squash – 6th October 2025

It was another action-packed week in the A League with some spectacular rallies, fierce comebacks, and a few nail-biting deciders that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.

Moore Dixon Jaguars continued their surge in form with a solid 3–1 victory over Argosy.

David Norman battled valiantly but couldn’t find a way past Joshua Green, who was clinical and composed throughout, winning 3–0. Toby Woolard followed up with another sharp display, dismantling Richard Cretney in straight games. The highlight of the tie came in the final rubber, where Magnus Lamprecht produced a stirring five-game comeback to secure Argosy’s only win of the night, overturning an early deficit to beat Lance Wyllie 3–2 in a real test of endurance and nerve.

Over on the next court, Cannell Print looked in commanding form as they overcame Team Aon 4–0.

Thomas Whiteway set the tone with a 3–1 win over the determined Jason Crease, and Ben Peach followed with a hard-fought four-game victory over Mason McLarney, who pushed him to the limit in a tight final set. Liam Townsend then showcased his trademark consistency, taking a composed 3–1 win against Phil Butler. With one match not played, the points were awarded to Cannell Print, sealing a maximum bonus win and a valuable leap up the standings.

Meanwhile, Crazy Billions maintained their place at the top end of the table with a well-earned 3–1 triumph over Pat’s Pals.

The standout contest of the night was between Patrick Fitzpatrick and Ashley Sandyford-Sykes — a thrilling five-game battle filled with momentum swings and dramatic rallies. Fitzpatrick twice levelled the match before Sandyford-Sykes finally edged the decider 14–12 in a gripping finish that had the crowd cheering every point. Oliver Wait hit back for Pat’s Pals with a fine 3–1 win over Mark Webster-Smith, showing real determination after dropping the opening game 0–11, but Crazy Billions sealed the overall victory through strong showings from Hamish Thornton and Chris Walton, who both won convincingly in straight sets.

The standard of play continues to rise across the division, with every team showing depth and competitive fire — and the race for top spot looks tighter than ever as the season moves into its middle phase.
