Crazy Jacks' crown slips
Island Tyres and Autocare ended Crazy Jacks Barbershop's unbeaten run with a 3-2 win. Mark Stratford came from a game down to beat Max Birchall 3-1, and Mark Grace and Peter Sharples both won in straight games. Mark Goodall and Tek Min Ewe won the last two for Crazy Jacks, but the gap at the top is now a single point. Island Tyres had also edged Racket Raiders 3-2 in week 5, with three of the five matches going to a fifth game.
Falcons are only six points off the top after beating Junior Academy 4-1 and whitewashing Dragons 5-0. Sarah Simpson took the closest match of that tie, winning the fourth game 17-15 against Keane Brentley.
First win for Racketeers
Racketeers came agonisingly close in week 5. They fought back from 2-0 down against Dragons, with Steven Wright winning his fifth game 17-15, before Helen Freer won the last match to take the tie for Dragons. This week the breakthrough came: a 3-2 win over Junior Academy. David Johnson and Charlie Beard won their matches, and Andy Dalrymple sealed it by winning a five-game battle with Aarav Gandu, taking the decider 15-9.
