IOM Squash C League – 21st October 2025
The C League saw some tightly contested fixtures this week as teams jockeyed for position heading into the final rounds of the season.
Dragons hosted Falcons in a thrilling encounter that went the full distance. Despite a strong start from the Falcons, Stuart Highy kept the Dragons in contention, producing a remarkable five-set victory over Greg Ansara with scores of 5–15, 15–13, 17–15, 13–15, 15–7. Other matches saw the Falcons’ strength at the top, with Dave Hedley and Elliot Henson securing 3–1 wins over Beth Jones and Andy McLarney, respectively. Helen Freer fought back for the Dragons with a 3–1 win against Glen Stewart, but overall the Falcons claimed the team victory, showcasing their depth and consistency.
At Hansard Racketeers, the home side faced Crazy Jacks Barbershop in another close contest. Jonathan Gower-Jackson impressed with a straight-games victory over Mark Harrop, and Aleyn Taggart followed suit with a commanding 3–0 win over Harry Douthwaite. The home side’s Steven Wright produced a dramatic five-set triumph over Darren Smith to salvage a point for Hansard, but Jacks’ collective performance secured the overall win.
Island Exhaust and Autocare took on Racket Raiders in a match marked by alternating momentum. Clare Townsend and Phil Whittam provided stellar displays for the Raiders, each recording wins in four sets, while Leslie Callow and Ryan Boshoff (who is a junior playing in his first match at senior level )delivered convincing straight-game victories for the home side. Philip Shaw’s 3–0 loss highlighted the competitive nature of the fixture, but Island Exhaust ultimately clinched the tie.
This week’s results have shaken up the standings, with teams like Falcons, Crazy Jacks Barbershop, and Island Exhaust showing they can challenge for the top spots, while the Dragons and Racket Raiders continue to fight hard in every match.
