C League – Week 14 (27th January 2026)
Falcons Crowned Champions by a Single Point
The C League delivered a thrilling finish, with the title race going right down to the very last match of the season. With Crazy Jacks Barbershop having already completed their fixtures, all eyes turned to the decisive showdown between Falcons and Island Exhaust & Autocare — a match that would determine the champions.
Falcons vs Island Exhaust & Autocare
Both teams entered the night weakened by absences, Falcons without Dave Hedley and Island Exhaust missing Pete Sharples, but neither side let that dampen the intensity.
Island Exhaust struck first through Mark Grace, who overcame Greg Ansara, before Mark Stratford followed up with a straight-games win over Lewi Long, putting Falcons under real pressure.
The momentum shifted in a dramatic third match as Julien Uzzell edged out Gerrit du Toit in a gripping five-setter, saving Falcons’ title hopes. That spark was fanned into flame by Elliot Henson, who produced a composed four-game victory over Leslie Callow, levelling the tie.
With everything on the line, Vusimbe Zivave delivered a commanding straight-games win against Philip Shaw, sealing a crucial 3–2 team victory.
That result proved decisive.
Racket Raiders vs Dragons
Racket Raiders started brightly as Clare Townsend set the tone with a confident 3–1 win over Stuart Highy, showing great composure in the closing games.
Dragons responded immediately. Andy McLarney produced one of the performances of the night to beat Phil Whittam 3–0, highlighted by a marathon second game that he edged 19–17. That proved a turning point.
Momentum swung further Dragons’ way when Andy Dixon outlasted Aaron Rumney in four tight games, before Matt Ripley added another straight-games victory against Ewan Cannan with relentless pressure from the back of the court.
Raiders finished strongly as Wayne Taylor stormed past Ben Arthur 3–0, but Dragons had already done enough to secure the overall result.
A hard-fought encounter, with Dragons’ middle order proving decisive.
Junior Academy vs Hansard Racketeers
Hansard Racketeers showed their experience and depth with a dominant display.
David Johnson opened with a solid 3–1 win over Thomas McAlear, recovering well after dropping the second game.
Jasneet Singh followed with a convincing straight-games victory against Ryan Visser, and Charlie Beard continued the momentum with another 3–0 win over Ryan Boshoff.
With two Junior Academy matches unplayed, Hansard collected maximum points on the night, strengthening their league position.
A tough evening for the Academy, but valuable learning against seasoned league opponents.
A huge evening of C League squash delivered everything: momentum swings, five-game battles, commanding performances — and a decisive showdown that reshaped the top of the table.
With Crazy Jacks Barbershop watching from the sidelines, all eyes were on Falcons vs Island Exhaust & Autocare, while Dragons travelled to Racket Raiders and Hansard Racketeers faced Junior Academy.
