C League Squash – 14th October 2025

Another exciting week of C League action delivered drama, five-set thrillers, and a showcase of emerging talent across the Isle of Man squash courts.

Crazy Jacks Barbershop vs. Island Exhaust and Autocare

Crazy Jacks Barbershop took the tie 3–2 in a match filled with tension and high-quality rallies. Jonathan Gower-Jackson recovered from a first-game loss to defeat Mark Stratford 3–1, while Aleyn Taggart and Lee Alexander also impressed with straight-sets victories over Peter Sharples and Leslie Callow. Island Exhaust and Autocare fought back through Gerrit du Toit, who won a thrilling five-set battle against Matt Ripley, and Philip Armstrong, who secured a straight-games win over Darren Smith, making this fixture one of the closest of the week.

Racket Raiders vs. Hansard Racketeers

Racket Raiders claimed a narrow 1–4 loss despite a superb performance from Clare Townsend, who held her nerve to win 3–2 against Mark Harrop. The rest of the squad struggled against a clinical Hansard Racketeers side, with Phil Whittam, Ewan Cannan, and Matthew McKee all falling in straight or four-set matches. A scheduled fifth match could not be played, giving the Racketeers the final point.

Junior Academy vs. Dragons

Dragons recorded a convincing 5–0 win over Junior Academy, demonstrating why they remain near the top of the C League. Beth Jones, Stuart Highy, and Andy McLarney all won four-set matches, while Andy Dixon and Helen Freer both secured straight-game victories. Despite the losses, the Junior Academy players showed great fighting spirit and potential for the weeks ahead.

 

The C League continues to deliver closely fought matches alongside standout individual performances, highlighting both the depth and future talent emerging in Isle of Man squash.
