Crazy Jacks Barbershop vs Dragons
This was a real back-and-forth contest. Stuart Highy gave the Dragons the early lead with a solid 3–1 win over Aleyn Taggart, but Jonathan Gower-Jackson and Lee Alexander turned things around for the Barbers with back-to-back straight-game victories. Andy McLarney restored parity for the Dragons, seeing off Mark Goodall 3–0, before Tek Min Ewe stepped up to deliver the decisive blow, sealing a comfortable 3–0 win over Ben Arthur. Crazy Jacks Barbershop took the tie 3–2 overall, thanks to their sharper finishing in the key matches.
Falcons vs Hansard Racketeers
The Falcons made a statement with a strong 4–1 victory. Dave Hedley opened the scoring with a four-game win over Mark Harrop, and Greg Ansara doubled the advantage after a battling 3–1 against David Johnson. Elliot Henson was ruthless, blasting past Jasneet Singh in straight games, and Sarah Simpson showed similar control in her 3–0 win over Charlie Beard. The Racketeers did salvage a point as Daryl Richards outlasted Kevin Cretney in a five-setter, but the Falcons had already done the damage, securing a 4–1 win and maximum points.
Island Exhaust & Autocare vs Junior Academy
It was one-way traffic for Island Exhaust, who dominated from start to finish. Peter Sharples, Leslie Callow and Philip Armstrong all recorded straight-games victories, while Philip Shaw also swept through in style to make it four perfect wins. Gerrit du Toit was involved in the match of the night against Thomas McAleer, narrowly losing 11–15 in the fifth, but that didn’t stop the home side from storming to a convincing 4–1 overall win. With four 3–0 results, Island Exhaust picked up a big haul of points to kickstart their campaign.
