IOM Squash A League - 20th October 2025
The A League once again delivered a fantastic night of squash, with several hard-fought matches and momentum shifts across all courts.
Cannell Print strengthened their position at the top of the table with a 3–1 win over Argosy. Star performer Thomas Whiteway battled through a five-set thriller against David Norman, taking the decider 11–6 after a superb display of controlled aggression. Ben Peach added a straight-games victory over Richard Cretney, and Liam Townsend came back strongly after losing the first game to win 3–1 against Magnus Lamprecht. Argosy’s David O’Neill earned a deserved point for his side after a high-energy five-set contest against George Rumney that kept spectators on edge.
Meanwhile, Moore Dixon Jaguars edged Crazy Billions 3–1 in the standout clash of the week. Joshua Green led by example with a clinical 3–0 win over Ashley Sandyford-Sykes, while Hamish Thornton hit back for Crazy Billions, taking down Shaun Wyllie 3–1 in a physical encounter. Toby Woolard and Mark Webster-Smith produced one of the best matches of the season so far — five gruelling games with Woolard holding his nerve to win 12–10 in the decider. Lance Wyllie then sealed the team win for the Jaguars after another marathon five-setter against Chris Walton, as both players pushed each other to the limit.
Elsewhere, Team Aon and Pat’s Pals produced a series of tight contests. Mason McLarney came out on top in a five-game battle with Ben Leith, while Harvey Douglas and Oliver Wait responded for the visitors with determined victories. With one match unplayed, Pat’s Pals took the tie 3–1 overall, moving them up the standings in a tightly packed mid-table.
Every fixture this week showcased the competitive depth of the A League — with no easy points and every team fighting for ground as the season reaches its midpoint.
